The tremendous growth in the electronics and computer fields has created an unprecedented demand for qualified technicians to service, maintain, inspect, operate, design, and develop electronics systems. The Bramson ORT College Electronics Technology Associate Degree program is designed to prepare students for a variety of occupations in the field of electronics. Commercial and residential establishments use cable, audio/video circuits, computer networks, fiber optics, or telecommunications and satellite systems. In today's job market there is a demonstrated need for an Electronics Systems Technicians.

Program Description

The Bramson ORT College Electronics Technology Associate Degree program is comprised of two areas: Electronics and Computers. The College also offers an Electronics Certificate and an Electronics Technology Diploma. Emphasis is put on both the theory and practical application of electronics engineering technology. Courses include the study of basic electronic circuitry and components, computers and microprocessors, data communication, and electronic security systems. Graduates of this program will be able to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic systems in an office or industrial setting.

Employment Opportunities

This program prepares students for entry level positions in industry, business, and government in computer/electronic equipment design, installation, service, and operation. It will also prepare students for occupations in such high tech specialties as data and telecommunications service providers, computer network and sales organizations, and entertainment industries.

Bureau of Labor Statistics – Employment is expected to increase 25 percent for all occupational areas within the electronics industry through 2014. Rising demand for electronic goods—including advanced communications equipment, defense-related electronic equipment, medical electronics, and consumer products—should continue to increase employment opportunities.

Bramson ORT College Expands Medical Assistant Program to Meet Growing Demand

To keep up with the trend, Bramson ORT College has expanded their Medical Assistant Program with new courses and curricula as they prepare for the upcoming spring semester.

Bramson ORT College offers an Accounting Associate Degree, a Bookkeeper Certificate, and an Accounting Diploma program. The degree program prepares junior accountants, junior auditors, cost clerks and tax examiner trainees.

Some of the areas that are covered in the Accounting program are: fundamental principles, methods, procedures of accounting and the accounting cycle for individual, partnerships and corporations; development of accounting theory and practice; principles, methods, and procedures of cost accounting, taxation for individuals and corporations and use of application programs such as Peachtree and Quick Books.

The Bramson ORT College computer technology programs of study present a comprehensive coverage of the computing fields, including software, hardware, and theory.

The College offers a Computer Information Systems Associate Degree (AAS); Junior Programmer, Computer Operations, Graphic Design and Programmer Intensive Certificates and a Computer Programming Diploma Program.

Students who choose to study for an associate degree have several concentrations open to them. They can focus on Computer Programming, Computer Networks, Graphic or CADD Design.

The Networking option trains students in the area of network infrastructure. The program includes theoretical and practical components, preparing entry-level networking technicians to design, install, monitor, maintain, and enhance network infrastructure. Graduates of the program could design and implement an infrastructure consisting of various networking devices and components such as clients, servers, routers, switches, hubs, and cabling systems.

The Fiber Optic Networks course is one of the most attractive components in the networking program. After class completion graduates will have the skills to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair fiber optic systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings.

The Graphic Design Certificate Program is intended to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in visual communications, working in some of today’s most dynamic industries. The fields of advertising, publishing, television, and web design offer great opportunities for trained visual communicators, especially designers.
