Electronics Technology

The tremendous growth in the electronics and computer fields has created an unprecedented demand for qualified technicians to service, maintain, inspect, operate, design, and develop electronics systems. The Bramson ORT College Electronics Technology Associate Degree program is designed to prepare students for a variety of occupations in the field of electronics. Commercial and residential establishments use cable, audio/video circuits, computer networks, fiber optics, or telecommunications and satellite systems. In today's job market there is a demonstrated need for an Electronics Systems Technicians.

Program Description

The Bramson ORT College Electronics Technology Associate Degree program is comprised of two areas: Electronics and Computers. The College also offers an Electronics Certificate and an Electronics Technology Diploma. Emphasis is put on both the theory and practical application of electronics engineering technology. Courses include the study of basic electronic circuitry and components, computers and microprocessors, data communication, and electronic security systems. Graduates of this program will be able to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic systems in an office or industrial setting.

Employment Opportunities

This program prepares students for entry level positions in industry, business, and government in computer/electronic equipment design, installation, service, and operation. It will also prepare students for occupations in such high tech specialties as data and telecommunications service providers, computer network and sales organizations, and entertainment industries.

Bureau of Labor Statistics – Employment is expected to increase 25 percent for all occupational areas within the electronics industry through 2014. Rising demand for electronic goods—including advanced communications equipment, defense-related electronic equipment, medical electronics, and consumer products—should continue to increase employment opportunities.
